Organising wedding photos: albums for each part of the celebration
After the wedding, you’ll be left with hundreds of photos scattered across dozens of mobile phones: the registry office, the champagne reception, the party. Here’s how to organise your photos whilst the celebrations are still underway – by the different parts of your day – and why this will save you a lot of work later on.
Why sort wedding photos by part of the celebration?
Because later you will not search by date but by moments: the ceremony, the cake, the first dance. For weddings spread over several days – a pre-wedding party, the civil ceremony, the church wedding, or mehndi, haldi and sangeet at Indian weddings – sorting by part of the celebration is the only way to keep track.
Albums that work well
Less is more: four to six albums are enough for most parties.
- Getting Ready
- Civil or celebrant-led ceremony
- Church
- Champagne reception and group photos
- Dinner and speeches
- Party and dance floor
How guests can choose the right album
Not on their own – that is why the current album is preselected. You switch it when the next part of the day begins, and anyone who finds photos of the ceremony later simply picks the right album when uploading.
One folder for everything, or albums?
| A folder for everything | Albums for each part of the day | |
|---|---|---|
| Order | By upload time, all mixed up | By part of the day, just like your wedding |
| Effort for guests | None | None – the current album is preselected |
| Sorting afterwards | Each photo individually | Only move the odd stray photo |
| Download | A folder containing everything | One folder per album |
For a small celebration in one place, a single folder is enough. As soon as there are several parts or several days, an album for each part saves you sorting afterwards.
How to create albums
- 1 Create the albums in your stream – suggestions such as ceremony, church and party are just a tap away.
- 2 On the day itself, mark the album that is currently under way.
- 3 Guests upload as usual; the current album is preselected.
- 4 After the celebration, move the odd stray photo and download everything with one folder per album.
What albums on weddingphotos.live can do
- Up to 20 albums per stream, with customisable names
- The current album is preselected for guests
- When uploading, guests can choose a different album themselves
- Filter photos by album and move several at once
- One folder per album in the download
- Without albums, everything stays in one stream as before
Common questions
What’s the best way to organise wedding photos?
Organise them by part of the celebration rather than by date or photographer – it’s easiest to do this when you upload them.
How many albums does a wedding need?
Four to six are usually enough. For celebrations lasting several days, it’s better to have one per day or per event.
What happens to photos that aren’t in an album?
They remain in the stream and can be moved to an album at any time. If you delete an album, its photos are retained.
Do the guests see the albums?
Yes, when uploading – that is where they choose the album. The one you marked as current is preselected.
